Beside the fact that blueberries are very delicious, they also have a lot of benefits for our health. Now, isn’t that something?!

Now that we know all about the health benefits of blueberries, it is time to find these little pieces of treasure. But if you are just like me, you do not always have the time nor energy to go into the woods and find them yourself. Sure, you are also able to find blueberries at the supermarket but these are less fresh and therefore, much less healthier than wild blueberries that you can find in the woods. That is why it is probably the best idea to grow them yourself. It is really easy and you can do that in the comfort of your own garden or even balcony!

First, we are going to find the right spot for the blueberries to grow. The fruit needs a stable ground and a lot of sunlight. If you have a big garden, it would be most ideal to place them in elevated flower pots. This way all of the excessive water can easily flow away. If you don’t have a garden and you want to grow your own blueberries on your balcony, don’t worry that is possible. The only thing is, that you should invest in a flower container.

Here is what you should do:

1, Make sure that you have enough space

If you plant more than 1 crop, make sure that there is at least 150cm in between.

2. Plant them in the spring

The best time of year to plant blueberries is in the spring. Plant them in holes of 50cm to 45 cm to achieve the best results. Make sure that you don’t forget to water them regularly.

3. Make sure that your blueberry crop is weed free.

The easiest way to prevent weeds from growing around you blueberries, is to spread some sawdust around it. Add some sawdust to that only once a year. The first couple of year it is also very important to regularly trim the bush to keep it in good condition.

4. Don’t forget to add some fertilizer to your blueberry bush

Always use organic fertilizer to prevent any damage from happening. Also, by using organic fertilizer you will increase the lifespan of your blueberry bush.
